Carlina Marchese, M.H.Sc. (Candidate)


Carlina is completing her Master of Health Sciences degree under the supervision of Dr. Bédard.  Her thesis will be investigating distracted driving in fatal collisions.  She holds a Specialized HBA in Psychology and a post-graduate certificate in Concurrent Disorders.  Carlina also works as a Graduate Assistant and is the Co-Director of Communications for the CSEB Lakehead Chapter.

Aaron Craig, H.B.Sc. (Candidate)


Aaron is going into his 4th year HBSc in Psychology and is working under Dr. Michel Bédard for his thesis through the Centre for Research on Safe Driving. He is scheduled to graduate in 2018 and plans to continue with graduate studies in Clinical Psychology. Aaron currently works as a Research Assistant and holds an executive position with the Psychology Association of Lakehead Students (PALS).

Shauna Fossum, M.H.Sc. (Candidate)


Shauna is completing her Master of Health Sciences (specialization in Gerontology) degree under the supervision of Dr. Bédard. For her thesis, she is aiming to develop a tool that measures how caregivers are affected by the driving cessation of older adults. She holds an HBA in Psychology and Gerontology. Shauna works as a graduate assistant for the CRSD and is a Co-Director of Communications for the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CSEB) Lakehead Chapter.

Jeff Pascua, B. Eng, M.Sc (Candidate)


Jeff is a Master of Science student in Civil Engineering. His research interests include the modeling of vulnerable road users within the built environment. His thesis will be examining time trends and related factors regarding pedestrian fatalities from the perspectives of epidemiology and transportation engineering. Jeff is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Michel Bédard and Dr. Juan C. Pernia. Jeff is the acting President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Lakehead Chapter, as well as an active member of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit's Walkability Committee and Community Traffic Awareness Committee (CTAC).
